Professor Shaw Pang Chui is currently the Director of the Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chin R&D Centre for Chinese Medicine, Deputy Director of the Institute of Chinese Medicine, and professor at the School of Life Sciences, CUHK. Professor Shaw has over 30 years of experience in the identification, quality control, and efficacy research of Chinese herbal medicine. He is a pioneer in the development of DNA technology for identifying Chinese herbal medicine and products. He has been committed to improving the quality control of Chinese herbal medicine and products and promoting the modernization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine. Recently, he and other professional associations have established the first quality control information platform in Hong Kong that uses blockchain technology to record the production process of traditional Chinese medicine called “HerBChain.” Professor Shaw has published over 250 papers, co-authored and published several books on Chinese medicine identification and quality control and obtained over 8 patents in China and the United States. He has also supervised over 60 doctoral students.

Research Team

Our research team has over 25 years of experience in DNA identification technology, specializing in identifying natural products and raw materials of Chinese medicine using DNA technology. Since the 1990s, we have published three academic books, obtained over 7 domestic and international patented technologies, and published over 100 academic papers on DNA molecular identification. We have also been invited by various media organizations to share our expertise in DNA identification technology.
